Temperature Sensing

Advanced Photonix offers two-color photodiode detectors, which are also referred to as dual-wavelength pyrometers or two-color pyrometers. These sandwich detectors are used in industrial and medical applications as remote infrared temperature sensors. Our sensors can detect infrared wavelengths, which enables precise temperature readings by calculating the ratio of energy measured at two different wavelengths.

Flame Detection / Characterization

Advanced Photonix offers Light-Dependent Resistors (LDR), Silicon, SiC and GaN based photodiodes in various applications to detect and characterize flames. Our technologies are used in industrial and commercial oil and gas burners to detect the presence of a flame and determine its quality, including its color. With our components, you can ensure that your burner operates at peak efficiency for the given fuel type. Our photodiode subsystems are installed in some of the most prevalent burner-control systems in the industry.

Liquid Level Sensing

Our photodiodes provide significant benefits for liquid-level sensing applications. Optical monitoring of fluid levels is highly desirable in industrial applications where it is crucial to keep the detectors separate from harsh chemicals or fuels. This separation can reduce the risk of corrosion and wear from direct contact with chemicals. Optical sensors can be installed outside the fluid vessel and can be easily replaced in rare cases of failure.

Optical level sensors are also ideal for laboratory and pharmaceutical applications where they eliminate the risk of contamination to highly sensitive instrumentation and analysis equipment.

Optical level sensors can be designed as simple high/low limit indicators or linear arrays of photodiode detectors to accurately measure liquid levels and provide precise electronic readouts.

Spectroscopy

A spectrophotometer is a device that assigns numerical values to hue, value, and chroma properties to identify colors. Our company is a leading provider of optoelectronics solutions in color science and technology, and we specialize in creating state-of-the-art spectrophotometers for color management systems.

We design and manufacture photodiode arrays with multiple elements to meet your most demanding requirements. Our team of expert applications engineers will work closely with you to identify the best photodiodes for your needs, ensuring minimum crosstalk between adjacent elements, high responsivity, and additional optical filters.

Currency Validation

LED and photodiode technologies are the perfect solutions for validating and verifying paper currency and other security printed products. These documents contain special dyes or features imprinted that reflect fluorescence light when exposed to specific wavelengths. By combining LEDs and wavelength-enhanced photodiode technologies, Advanced Photonix can assist in accurately and swiftly verifying specific currency types for various applications such as gaming, vending, and banking.

Audio Processing

Advanced Photonix offers a wide range of CdS photoresistor-based optocouplers to cater to the music and sound reinforcement industry. Our optocouplers are designed to maintain signal clarity while preserving the source's warmth.

Unlike other solid-state and optical signal couplers, our CdS-based optocouplers generate minimal signal distortion and retain the subtleties and warmth of the source signal.

Our optocouplers are the preferred choice for some of the top respected names in the Pro-Sound systems, guitar amplifiers, effects manufacturers, signal processing, and musical instrument industry. They rely on us to deliver an exceptional audio experience that delights their customers.

Pill, Seed counting

Advanced Photonix is a company that has successfully integrated its photodiode and emitter technologies into a variety of applications, including agriculture, pharmaceutical, commercial design, currency, and vending machines. Our optical-interruption circuit is capable of accurately counting the number of objects at extremely high speeds, when an object interrupts the path between the light source and the photodiode. We are one of the top suppliers of photodiodes for optical seed counters to some of the world’s leading farm instrument and sensor manufacturers. We design and manufacture subassemblies, which includes the photodiode and the light source. Our advanced 3D light ray tracing and zoom illuminance mapping are critical tools and expertise that help us meet our customers' requirements.

Light Intensity, Attenuation Measurement

Our photodiode technology is well-suited for applications that require light-level sensing, as the current output of a photodiode changes with the intensity of the light it senses. This change in electrical output can be used as a switching mechanism for lighting systems in commercial, industrial, and automotive settings.

Our technology is also used to accurately measure the transmission attenuation of semi-opaque materials, as well as window tints and other applications. By using wavelength-enhanced photodiodes, it is possible to measure changes in the intensity of specific parts of the light spectrum. This makes it ideal for measuring the effectiveness of UV-blocking lenses, optical filters, and for measuring the power and intensity of wavelength-specific light sources such as lasers and UV lamps.

We specialize in designing and manufacturing customized photodiode solutions that are tailored to meet the specific requirements of your application.
